This chapter considers and compares the techniques that come under the heading of 'Atomic Spectroscopy' – flame emission, atomic absorption, plasma emission and atomic fluorescence together with sample preparation procedures. In addition it considers UV/visible and X-ray techniques where applied to the measurement of elemental species.
